On the worldwide weed appreciation day known as 4/20, Snoop Dogg released his 18th studio album From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites. Through ten tracks, the LA legend goes through the same lyrical motions he’s been running through since about the mid-2000s at this point, and the end result is an LP that feels outdated and weirdly familiar. Its un-innovative but well-fitted g-funk-inspired soundscape sets the perfect atmosphere, and Snoops braggadocios subject matter only adds to the aura. While in this regard, the album is done well, this pattern makes for a fairly boring experience, and the only points of interest come from features like Mozzy and Devin Dude. If Snoop Dogg wasn’t washed up already, this clearly proves he is.
