On The Alchemist’s newest EP, This Thing Of Ours Pt. 2, he continues to show that he can thrive alongside any name thrown his way. With five total tracks, Uncle Al crafts an array of fine-tuned soundscapes that masterfully encompass his guest’s commanding vocals. From Mavi’s glorious “Miracle Baby” to the quirky “Wildstyle” with ZelooperZ, Al’s collaborating skills are just as good as usual, and the impressive list of mcs featured keeps things interesting throughout. Between the smooth MIKE track, mysterious and antsy Danny Brown performance, and Vince Staples’ creepy yet comedic “6 Five Heartbeats,” each rapper delivers a darker performance than the next as they leave traces to their innermost paralyzing demons. With the intent to bring camaraderie amongst The Alchemist and his peers for having a career lifestyle similar to those in the mob, the second installment of this series fleshes out these ideas in a much more internal and haunting manner.
