IDK- “Simple.” Review

IDK- “Simple.” Review

Through a mere eight tracks, IDK manages to make a solid comeback effort with Simple. From the sonic atmosphere executively produced by KAYTRANADA to IDK’s own performance which is much more consistent from his last record, USEE4YOURSELF, this project does not repeat any of the same flaws IDK was previously panned for. This works to both the project’s advantage and disadvantage as some of the weaker cuts in this tracklist are a little too plain to be enjoyed. Regardless of the low points, most of the moments on this project allow IDK to make some of his best tracks of the decade with cuts that push him as a lyricist and a vocalist. The features from Denzel Curry and Mike Dimes on this record are also fantastic adding great supporting verses in some of the project’s best tracks. While the six actual songs on this project leave you wanting a lot more, IDK manages to make a short but sweet progressive hip hip record with Simple.
