After the Fear series which pushed his artistic boundaries to new ceilings, it would definitely be challenging for legendary rapper Tech N9ne to come up with an idea more interesting and his newest album, Asi9ine, does nothing of the sort. Through an oversaturated tracklist that spans a tedious 17 songs, the Strange Music leader pretty much spews out any itch of an idea he has which ends up making this record a disaster on all fronts. From the rock-inspired cuts to actual moments of solid rapping, you never know what to expect and with weird performances from both Tech and most of his features, this album can become really hard to get through in its entirety. Summed up by The Rock’s verse on “Face Off,” this album will have you rolling your eyes and scratching your head in confusion of what just happened. While there are scarce moments that showcase Tech and guests like Lil Wayne and E-40 at the best of their abilities, this album is a trainwreck due to its huge melting pot of terribly executed styles.
