Attempting to show off the current talent of the Def Jam roster, the Snoop Dogg lead Algorithm is a compilation album that makes you question if getting through the gruesome lows makes it worth it for the just alright highs. Through 25 songs, Uncle Snoop further proves how he’s the most overrated mc of all time as he carelessly leads the charge of one of the most carelessly put-together records of the entire year. There are some eye-opening moments here, such as “Alright” with Method Man and Redman or the Dave East and Fabulous led “Make Some Money,” but nothing really ends up swooping the listener off their feet as if there was a song so good, it would be on these respective artists own projects and not this mockery of a compilation record. If you’re mentally strong enough to get through the first few tracks, you’ll get to the record’s only real true moment with “Murder Music”, a fiery posse cut that contains spine wrenching verses from Snoop Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, and Benny The Butcher. All in all, there may be times where this album may excite but for as scare as these good moments are, the tedious length of this record makes this something you shouldn’t even listen to once.
